Ramaphosa said it could be settled in court in response to Mkhwebane's request to retire.

President Cyril Ramaphosa said on Friday that he would not abandon the impeachment process against public guardian Busisiwe Mkhwebane. He also said he would not withdraw her intention to suspend her. Mkhwebane argued that Ramaphosa "has no legal right or authority to take any action" under Article 194 (3) (a) of the Constitution. However, Ramaphosa's lawyer dismissed this as a rule because he had not identified which of the public guardian's investigations led to the alleged dispute. Ramaphosa's lawyer said he did not object to Mkhwebane's request to bring the matter to court.
